Olympic House
Location
Lausane
The brief for the International Olympic Committee headquarters in Lausanne had a specific objective: the office was to be a functional workspace, but also a visitor centre with a museum-like identity. The main aim in this 25,000 square meter project was to incorporate the client's universal values into the interior design: symbolism, sustainability, flexibility, timelessness, technology, well-being, and respectful integration. The goal was to create a timeless space that transcended from any particular region or historical style, or historical style, defining a shared universal language across cultures and epochs. With sustainability as a top priority on the Olympic Agenda, this meant focusing on resource efficiency, principles of circular economy, respectful integration into the local landscape, and user comfort. Consequently, the building became one of the most sustainable in the world when it was inaugurated in June 2019. It was the first to achieve LEED Platinum certification for design and construction.
